I recently asked Grok, how much more does an Indian IT worker make in the US than in India?

Absolute Difference: An Indian IT worker earns approximately $116,600 more per year in the US compared to India ($125,000 vs. $8,400).

Multiplier: This represents about 15 times the salary in India (125,000 / 8,400 ? 14.9x).

Wow.

I decided to have chatgpt analyze the information you garnered and account for the differences in cost of living.

After the usual caveats about differences between specific locations, etc, this is what I got:

After adjusting for cost of living, the effective “power” of the U.S. salary still remains several times greater (maybe ~3× to ~5× more) for similar lifestyle (holding other things equal).

So: cost?of?living does offset a large part of the 15× difference, but not enough to make them equal.

    Wow indeed.

God willing, they will go back.
