The Trump Reality Distortion field doesn’t extend that far

Friday, January 15th, 2021

Trump pushed his luck one last time, Steve Sailer notes, by inviting a big crowd of Trump die-hards to Washington DC to serve as a cheering backdrop for his Power of Positive Thinking fantasy of a Mr. Smith Goes to Washington ending;

Now obviously, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington wasn’t going to happen. The Trump Reality Distortion field doesn’t extend that far.

But why did Trump’s Luck fail him so ignominiously as having part of his crowd that he foresaw as an applauding audience turn into the mob that forced its way into the Capitol?

For one reason, there’s a selection effect between Trump going to a Trump rally in the hinterlands and Trump calling one last rally in DC: when Trump goes to his supporters, they are the salt of the earth.

But when he calls for his supporters to come to him from all across the country, the cost of travel is selecting for more extremism. So he winds up with a crowd that consists of tens of thousands of law-abiding citizens, a few thousand adventurers who are up for taking selfies inside the Capitol, a few hundred street brawlers up for for a good old fight shoving and bashing their way in, and few dozen real crazies who might or might not have done some very bad things if they’d got their hands on political enemies.

This is why moderates are irrelevant. They lack initiative. The news and history both select for extremism. It’s all go big or stay home.

Every moderate is destined to be forgotten long before he dies. This is usually his preference. It has its comforts. Irrelevance is a recliner, a beer and a bowl of popcorn. Stay on the safe side of the TV screen.

If you don’t have a dog in the fight, observe from a safe distance.

At least one BLM operative who did a false flag/provocation event inside the capital, along with CNN’s TV crew (doesn’t that make them guilty of sedition-insurrection) and a bunch of stand down, stand aside cops who watched antifa/BLM burn and loot with impunity for months; as well as at least one anti-Trumper with a badge in the mix, too.

Reality distortion is the Climate Change Scam. Reality distortion is the Covid Scam. Reality distortion is the idea that Beijing Biden can print 2 Trillion Dollars without making the economic situation so much worse.

But the biggest Reality Distortion is the untenable belief that Beijing Biden actually got 80+ Million valid votes.

Epstein did not kill himself either.

The real “reality distortion field” surrounds those who believe that the Tea Party participants that morphed over into Trump supporters aren’t real, and are just going to fold their tents and go away. Trump was the result of marginalizing and ignoring their concerns/issues. Suppressing Trump, as the establishment is doing, is not going to “solve” the problems posed by this group, which I would submit stem from a far more realistic view of the American situation than the worldview espoused by the idiot oligarchy that calls itself the Democratic and Republican Parties.

What this last 12 years has revealed is that the people running the US and its “cultural elite” actually hate what the country stands for and is established on. They work against it at every turn, and are not on the side of the masses of the American population that they supposedly serve. Instead, they see themselves as agents of transformation, come to America to take it down a peg and produce a globalist regime which will impose “social justice” for the world. While, of course, enriching themselves and their families.

It’s a notable thing that we only have one man like Elon Musk that’s a classic innovator/entrepreneur like the old “robber barons”. The rest of our wealthy make their money through grift and kickbacks on foreign aid, or selling out the American working class to its enemies overseas. This is not a good thing, and the end result is going to be a bloody shooting revolution against the idiots-in-charge when it’s all over with.

I had an acquaintance back in the ’90s, a Democratic Party “true believer” that was working his way up the hierarchy. At the time I knew him, he was heavily involved in his local precinct, and an “up-and-comer” in the local party structure. Then, about mid-way through Clinton’s first term, he went back East to some leadership development function for the Democrats, and when he came back, he was a changed man–He started disengaging from the Democrats, and eventually wasn’t involved with them any more. I was never able to get the “Why” out of him, but he did make the comment to me that “…one day, they’ll be hunting Democrats through the streets with dogs… And, they’ll be right to do it, too…”.

Whatever the hell he saw on that trip, I kinda get the feeling that we’re seeing the results all around us, today.

It was good of Sailer, flying the flag for the anti-Trumpers (though they have enough flag-wavers already, one would have thought). But I suppose every little knife in the back helps those who love wielding political knives.

But one thing that perhaps Trump did (and I am not talking about 4D Chess or ‘the plan’) was to show more of how the Democrats really are to a bigger audience. I think I saw it some time ago, but there will be people who will now begin to realise that the antifa/BLM infiltration and the subsequent squeals of ‘coup!’ mixed with wild statements how everyone peacefully twisting elections was gonna die helped more realise what US politics has become.

Even the fact that Trump called for peace in his speech to the gathering has been swept away.

I would hate to see an uprising from this and the subsequent loss of life, liberty and property, but the noises the left keeps making in America suggests that they ought to tread More carefully. To date they have–with the desperate help of loony big tech bosses and a dishonest media–managed to get away with a crime, to a degree, but when revolutions come it is because someone with money and power finally went a step too far.

  6. Kirk says:

They’ve been playing with fire for most of my lifetime, TBH. It’s going to be like one of those deals where the headlines read “He was surprised by the “FOOOM”…”, describing some inbred idjit playing with explosives.

The US was the only ever case of a revolution run by and for the middle class; everywhere else it was done, it was done by malaffected members of the aristocracy.

I think that’s a significant data point to understanding the American cultural mindset, and I suspect that it will also play heavily into what happens next. The oligarchic monoparty that masquerades as the Democrats and Republicans may have overplayed its hands; the rubes are beginning to realize that there is a con in play, and that they are the patsies.

This is never a good thing, for the con men. It leads to really bad things happening to them, and things spinning out of control, ending God alone knows where. The next few years are going to be very, very interesting, for a given value of that word.

One must remain aware that the social pendulum swings one way, reaches the furthest point of its swing, and then comes back the other way. The more the displacement, the harder and faster it comes back.

And, the idjits have done pushed that bastard so far off equilibrium that I would not be at all surprised to see a generation of pogroms and some kind of religious revival looking damn near theocratic. We’re already looking like secular theocracy, with academia and the left taking the place of both church and state, solemnly pronouncing on heresy and excommunicating the unclean…

The reaction to that ain’t going to be pretty, once it settles in that they really do mean what they say, and intend to unperson everyone who disagrees with their solemn theologies.

The elites near-insane response to the Capitol demonstrations show that, above all, they are terrified, and all they know how to do is lash out a whites in general, and Trump in particular. Which, of course, is only making it worse.

I don’t think the people running this, and there’s many groups not just one, are afraid at all because they don’t have the same mental makeup as normal humans. The people at the top of the heap are psychopaths and have very little fear response. In fact all the turmoil and discontent is serious brain candy to them. They love it and they think they can out smart al of us and that we will never, ever, ever do a damn thing because…we haven’t before. They do not have the same brain make up as norms so they really can’t predict exactly what will happen. They think they can, but they can’t. I have no doubt that at some point, and I have no idea what, when or how it will be triggered, people will just go nuts and start slaughtering these people. (I say people loosely. Psychopaths are really animals. Exactly like the human animal before civilization. Their mental make-up is why it took so long for civilization to arise. I mean imagine a bunch of psychopaths trying to run anything. They would spend all their time in useless power grabs and fighting. Never getting a damn thing done. They are the same thing as a band of Chimps).

We owe a great debt of gratitude for this if nothing else that Trump has done. They have had to come out of hiding and emote what they really believe. And every time they didn’t get the response they thought they should they doubled down because they only have so many tools in their mental tool chest.

“…I would hate to see an uprising from this and the subsequent loss of life, liberty and property, but the noises the left keeps making in America suggests that they ought to tread More carefully…when revolutions come it is because someone with money and power finally went a step too far…”

    Yes I very much agree.

  10. TRX says:

If Biden is sworn in you’ll see “loss of liberty” no matter what kind of demonstrating anyone does beforehand.

Criminy. It’s on the freakin’ Democratic Party web site. That nobody seems to pay any attention to. Like when that Hitler guy wrote his book laying out his plans for Germany and Europe, and once he got in power they patted him on the head and told him he was in the club now, so settle down and play nice.
