Terrible trying-too-hard headline, but interesting technology — Microwaves Could Heat Up Security Searches:

Scientists at Northumbria University in northern England are developing a technique to produce three-dimensional images using microwaves for airport security checks and in medicine.

‘The technology could be very versatile and suited to use in security, medical and industrial applications,’ said Dr David Smith who is leading the team of engineers and physicists.

Unlike X-rays which can cause damage to human tissue, microwaves are harmless and could be used to find hidden objects or weapons carried by people.
