People doing humiliating, even illegal, things may be newsworthy, but these incidents became news-channel melodramas only because there happened to be cameras on hand. If these seem intrusive, wait until the next generation of gotcha TV, when the devices of choice will be camera-phones. They combine an average-looking cellphone with a still or videocamera that can transmit images instantly to the Net.
