Sean Wise interviews Rener Gracie — one of the Gracies I hadn’t heard of — on what mixed-martial arts can teach about entrepreneurship, and Rener makes the following points:

  1. If you have the leverage you do not need the strength
  2. Prepare for all worst-case scenarios
  3. Position before submission
  4. If you do not lose you will eventually win
  5. Timing is everything

He also interviews Marc Bocek, one of Canada’s first black belts in Jiu-Jitsu, who makes the following points on the business of jiu-jitsu:

  1. Take your opponent out of his or her comfort zone
  2. Never stop learning, the day you stop learning is the day you die
  3. Study your opponents
