I’m most worried about what Aku will sound like now that Mako has passed.
This made me think of the Ninja Scroll anime, of which the 1993 movie, and the 2003, 13-episode tv series are both on YouTube. Be warned tho, it’s as brutal as Jack is cute. But then again, the samurai are not supposed to be cute, no way no how!
Or for the millennials who need a female lead, the 1989 Wrath of the Ninja. The first scene is already great, when Kasumi says to the black-looking attacker, “take your filthy hands off me!” Classic Japanese political incorrectness!
That video managed to to turn me from enthusiastic to uninterested in the space of just a couple minutes.
I don’t want Jack “more hardcore”. I want more of what they were doing in the original 4 seasons, and/or an ending, and if that’s not possible, then there’s no point.
I look at the preview glimpses and it just seems like they’ve mislaid the magic. Which is to be expected, really, after a hiatus that long.
Would’ve been better if they had done an entirely new show, “by the creators of Samurai Jack”.
By the way, the entire Samurai Jack series is available to Hulu subscribers.
