Internet Cafe Robbery

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Two “men” — armed with a pistol and a bat — attempted to rob an Internet cafe in Ocala, Florida — where legal concealed-carry is not uncommon:

The cafe customer who drew his own pistol did manage to hit the robbers, but just barely:

Dawkins had a superficial wound in his left arm, but Henderson was shot in two places: his left buttock and his right hip.

Shooting them as they ran away was perfectly natural but probably illegal.

Shooting as they flee is not illegal until they leave the bldg then chasing them after that puts you in some jeapordy. Your the second blogger to say this but it’s not correct. They won’t charge him. That will tell the tale and I understand they are not

  2. Isegoria says:

The authorities may not charge the Internet cafe customer who shot at those fleeing suspects, but that does not mean that shooting a fleeing suspect is automatically “reasonable” and thus legal. Further, there’s no clear distinction between fleeing within the building and going through the door — although states like Florida, with a Castle Doctrine, may rule that anyone breaking and entering a home can reasonably be assumed to have bad intentions.
