July 10, 2006 is the 150th anniversary of Nikola Tesla’s birth. Tesla developed the technology behind modern AC power and this led him to fight the “War of Currents” against Edison, who was selling DC power systems.
Edison went to great lengths to discredit Tesla’s superior AC power technology, including demonstrating the dangers of AC electrocution. He even made a short documentary film of alternating current Electrocuting an Elephant that needed to be put down.
