The Englishmen shave their beards and moustaches, and twist hair into pig-tails

William Dalrymple shares a report (in The Anarchy) from a Persian traveller, a learned Sayyid named Abdul Lateef Shushtari, who visited Calcutta after the East India Company had taken over:

Whatever their many vices, wrote Shushtari, the English welcomed and rewarded talent: ‘the English have no arbitrary dismissal,’ he noted, ‘and every competent person keeps his job until he writes his own request for retirement or resignation. More remarkable still is that they take part in most of the festivals and ceremonies of Muslims and Hindus, mixing with the people. They pay great respect to accomplished scholars of whatever sect.’

Intermarriage, he wrote, was common, though the Indian women who took European partners were, he maintained, rarely respectable: ‘The women of people with no future, of corrupt Muslims, of evil Hindus, who of their own desire enter into the bonds of wedlock with the English, they do not interfere with their religion nor compel them to leave purdah veiling; when any son born of the union reaches the age of 4, he is taken from his mother and sent to England to be educated.’

The Englishmen shave their beards and moustaches, and twist hair into pig-tails. They scatter a white powder to make their hair look white, both men and women do this, to lessen the difference between old and young. Neither men nor women remove pubic hair, accounting comely to leave it in its natural state. And indeed, most European women have no body-hair, and even if it does occur, it is wine-coloured, soft and extremely fine.

By reason of women going unveiled, and the mixed education of boys and girls in one school-house, it is quite the thing to fall in love, and both men and women have a passion for poetry and compose love poems. I have heard that well-born girls sometimes fall in love with low-born youths and are covered in scandal which neither threats nor punishment can control, so their fathers are obliged to drive them out of the house. The streets are full of innumerable such once-well-bred girls sitting on the pavements.

Brothels are advertised with pictures of prostitutes hung at the door, the price of one night written up with the furnishings required for revelry … As a result of the number of prostitutes, atashak [gonorrhoea] – a severe venereal disease causing a swelling of the scrotum and testicles – affects people of all classes. It spreads from one to another, healthy and infected mixed together, no one holding back – and this is the state of even the Muslims in these parts!

Shia and the practice of temporary marriage??

It has been said that the sexual revolution didn’t start with the Pill, that the Pill only kicked things up a notch, but what got it started in the first place was antibiotics.

  3. Jim says:

What got it started in the first place was public school.

Schools are for slaves. I don’t mean this derogatorily, I mean this clinically. It is essential to understand that school by its very nature breeds (heh) the social dysfunctions characteristic of slave populations.

Some varieties of school are more dissolutive than others, but all in greater or lesser inculcate the same slavish tendencies of personality. The most explicit admission of this is to be found in the General Education Board’s literature:

“In our dream, we have limitless resources and the people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hand. The present educational conventions fade from their minds; and, unhampered by tradition, we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive rural folk. We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning, or men of science. We have not to raise up from among them authors, editors, poets or men of letters. We shall not search for embryo great artists, painters, musicians nor lawyers, doctors, preachers, politicians, statesmen, of whom we have an ample supply…The task we set before ourselves is very simple as well as a very beautiful one, to train these people as we find them to a perfectly ideal life just where they are… So we will organize our children into a little community and teach them to do in a perfect way the things their fathers and mothers are doing in an imperfect way, in the homes, in the shops and on the farm.” – General Education Board, Occasional Papers, No. 1 “The country school of to-morrow” (General Education Board, New York, 1913) p. 6.

As John Taylor Gatto ably documents in his superb writings, not here cited, the capitalists brought in obligate public schooling in order to solve the problem of “overproduction”. Overproduction is when there is so much manly competition and such a proliferation of material production of goods and services that the ordinary man is no longer dependent on the corporate state for his material essentials. (The other half of the solution to the problem of overproduction is the regulatory nanny-state, which erects a competitive moat around large corporations and their absentee shareholders.)

Now, of course, the public school system is mostly irrelevant, because the common man is now fully manageably stupefied, pacified, and enfattened. The international banking cartel now wish to replace the fiat system (founded ultimately on paper) with a system of “zero trust” founded directly on omnipresent network connectivity and centralized databases. The great advantage of the zero-trust system, from the administrative state’s point of view, is that it embeds the Internet security model of continuous verification into every commercial transaction.

Pray for a miracle lest you see Aaron Russo’s prophecy come to life.

A government is merely the paramount corporation. A king of one hundred has more in common with a king of one hundred thousand than he does with his own viceroy.

Once you’ve organized yourself out of a wet paper bag (your email job), be sure to let me know.

I’ll congratulate you on your successful absconsion from another man’s corporate plantation to find safe harbor on your own corporate plantation, and I’ll mean it, too.

  6. Pseudo-Chrysostom says:

”A government is merely the paramount corporation.”

The audience may take note of the slipperiness of definitions that is customary when dealing with wordcels: take a word with certain connotations in a certain parochial context, expand that definition to a new context, but without updating the connotations in accordance with the new use-case, in hopes of taking advantage of the old connotations in application in the new context for rhetorical advantage.

Much like how an atheist attempting to deal with natural law will engage in word games to say anything except the word ‘god’ when describing the proceeding of Being, a marxist will define armies, warrior aristocracies, academies, churches, preachers, theocracies, all as ‘merchants’, in order to shoehorn epicycles into the marxist framework of power relations.

  7. Jim says:

Literally everything is a corporation, nigga. The East India Company was a corporation; the City of London is a corporation preceding William the Conqueror and predating Norman England and to this day immune to the King of England’s authority; the immensely powerful Hudson’s Bay Company was incorporated by English royal charter back in 1677; the United States, for the purpose of federal debt collection, is a corporation (28 USC 3002(15)(A)); your municipal government—which employs police officers to give you speeding tickets, on the off-chance you have a T concentration greater than 500 ng/dl—is a corporation. And all of these corporations, like all corporations, were and are inherently commercial in nature.

How does it feel, dear Pseud, to be so reliably given so thorough a drubbing? I almost feel bad for you.

    Almost.

  8. Pseudo-Chrysostom says:

    ”Literally everything is a corporation”

Isn’t it funny how you can make my point for me exactly and still not see to get it?

If ‘literally everything is a corporation’, then you also no longer have any grounds for critiquing anything as abberations that are deleteriously divergent from some presumed alternate state or states of being, in the first place.

  9. Jim says:

The full quote is, “Literally everything is a corporation, nigga.”

Say it. Say, “Literally everything is a corporation, nigga.”

  10. Pseudo-Chrysostom says:

Common mistranslation, what it actually says is “I xxxx xxxxxx xxxxx for a living and you can quote me on that.”
