Presto

If Penn Jillette looks a bit different now, it may be because — Presto! — he just lost 100 pounds.

He talks to Reason‘s Nick Gillespie about Donald Trump, his crazy diet, and Bob Dylan’s genius:

He lost 100 pounds, but they went right back into the creepy. I watched his Bullshit show but would almost not recognize him here.

Jillette also “feels safe casting his vote for Gary Johnson, who is running on the libertarian ticker”, this one:

    Gary Johnson’s Massive Campaign Debt
    Gary Johnson’s ACTUAL Fiscal Record

Karl Denninger even made a video: Doesn’t fiscal responsibility start with your campaign?

At least the “feel the Johnson” slogan is correct, if nothing else. A debt-ridden libertarian talking about fiscal order, oh the irony, which Jillette missed completely.

To quote the The Z Man once again:

“My chief complaint against libertarianism is that it is a convenient hiding place for people unwilling to take on the Left. If you reject central planning of the national economy, but are afraid to be called bad things by the local lunatics. In the culture war, libertarians will never go over the top and will, once in a while, turn their weapons on their comrades. You just can’t trust them to fight.”

Spot on. Gary Johnson truly is friendly fire this time around.

Experts can get Trump up to speed on anything in one hour. I doubt the same is true for the Jillettes and Johnsons of the world. They are too smart for their own good, like you Americans say.

I watched Johnson’s interviews with Jillette and Rogan and would have placed him firmly in the Democratic corner, if I didn’t know any better.

Here is another angle on Trump, from someone who sat in a room with him, Adam Carolla paraphrased:

“Trump has done a very good job at being successful. That means he has a very strong work ethic. This idea that everyone just sort of backs and falls into everything, that stuff just falls into one’s lap, that is done by very feeble-minded people who are never going to amount to anything in their life. Donald Trump busts his ass, and he has created an empire for himself; we can’t deny that. So that is a good thing. He also has children that are very successful themselves, and who adore and are very respectful of him, which I find to be a very good attribute for a father.

I sat in the Celebrity Apprentice boardroom and watched his children on and off camera, and I saw how well they were put together, how much reverence they had for their dad, not fear, respect, and frankly how well composed they were. I saw a guy who raised some very successful children.

Now, he is also a guy who is busy, he speaks in shorthand, shorthand hurts feelings, and it happens. Trump walks and talks; he is one of those guys. He is a guy on a mission, getting into helicopters with retractable gear; that’s the real deal.

People are like, but president of the United States? Well, first off, Donald Trump aside, I’m the guy who wants Elon Musk to run the country. I want the smartest guy in the land to do the job, but I would also much rather have somebody from the private sector than a career politician.”

And what’s with the Trump button meme again, there’s no button, there are launch keys, goddammit, it’s like the two-man rule is lost knowledge.

This interview with Jillette really pissed me off to the point I can’t sleep now. Those wannabe intellectual libertarians are almost mirror images of enlightened liberals…

Regarding Trump I’m with Scott Adams & Adam Carolla, besides my selfish reason of wanting a Slovenian first lady, so go Trump!

  2. Slovenian Guest says:

Speaking of, Scott Adams just said today:

“The stuff Trump does that isn’t part of persuasion technique, and still looks crazy to you, is something unfamiliar in the political realm: honesty and politically-incorrect humor. For example, when Trump said about McCain’s war record that he preferred someone who didn’t get captured, it was an adaptation of a well-known joke form, and it made me laugh when I heard it, in large part because it was so politically incorrect. The wrongness, along with the clever twist, is what made it a joke.”

It seems crazy to people, just like 99% beef burgers taste funny to high schoolers who only ever had pink slime mystery patties for school lunch, when asked a question, Trump just answers. What the hell? And this seems weird. It’s like Dave Chappelle having juice for the first ttme. It’s the real deal with Trump, none of that pre canned Kool-Aid-Drink!

  3. James James says:

Nick Gillespie describes himself in the video as a “professional libertarian”.

  4. “I do not know if the people of the United States would vote for superior men if they ran for office, but there can be no doubt that such men do not run.”
    — Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America

I got as far as Penn Jillette talking about how brilliant presidents were. That was buffoonery. Does anyone think Obama and his recent predecessors are smarter than Buffett or Peter Thiel or the banksters that use them.

Clinton, Bush, and Obama display intellects a little above a low cunning, but not much.

I guess that says something about a guy who used to do tricks for a living.

  5. Sam J. says:

I also got a little past where he said Presidents are smart and couldn’t take it much more. Later I watched again after I cooled down. Jewish civilization trolling does me that way. This time I fast forwarded to the diet.

Libertarians always say they are nonviolent. Good they never actually put their program in action because if they did and people were starving and dying in the streets they would have to learn violence fairly quick to keep their stuff. Of course any political group that gets their inspiration from a book where there’s free energy machines, magic invisible canyons full of magic farms that no one tills and magic mines full of gold deserves to be in the minority.

I like everything Trump has said but I don’t know about Trump himself. There’s a story/rumor that there’s been a lawsuit filed against Trump. That he and Jeffrey Epstein raped a thirteen year old.

    http://www.snopes.com/2016/06/23/donald-trump-rape-lawsuit/

This is probably all lies but it wouldn’t surprise me completely if it were true. Seems the only people who can get in office these days are people they have something on to make sure they do the bidding of P.T.B..

To me Trump is a bit of a mystery. Hopefully he has such a big ego that he will actually accomplish some of what he says he’ll do. People say Presidents can’t do much because of the bureaucracy but I believe they’re wrong. If the President raises mortal hell he can get a lot done. He can veto the whole damn budget and refuse to budge. Those with less will power will probably cave.
