Interesting. One problem with this analysis is the implicit assumption that a person is in one of these job categories for his entire life.
I know a guy who started in the Sales category (business-to-business sale of complex products, which should really be a different category from, say, shoe salesman), moved in the the Management category, and eventually became CEO of a very significant company. Others have followed a track that starts with Engineer and turns into CEO.
