Introducing the Hipster PDA lists the three steps for Building your first Hipster PDA:

get a bunch of 3″x5″ file cards
clip them together with a binder clip
there is no step 3

A lot of people — in particular, a lot of people who’ve read Getting Things Done — take the Hipster PDA quite seriously. I wasn’t sure what to make of it, but it seemed to have some promise (beyond its humor potential), and I started to look at various index-card options: 3″x5″, 4″x6″, blank, ruled, grid, customized (via Levenger), etc.

Then my brother happened to call, and I started to describe the whole Hipster PDA thing to him. “Oh, I’ve been doing that for years. Only I use a rubber band, not a binder clip. You can get some really nice customized cards from Levenger; I have a whole stack to work through…”

I may have to give this a try.

Uses anonymity and sequential polling. But the right circumstances are generally difficult and rare. Gaikokumaniakku: This is why crazy paradigm-breakers have so much potential for improvements to the collective system. Sadly, the rewards usually don’t work out. Crazy, dishonest charlatans are often rewarded, and crazy honest autistic crusaders for truth are usually burned at the stake. TRX: Crichton usually got his computer stuff correct, though. He picked up a degree in “computer graphics” while he was getting his M.D. at Harvard. When he decided he didn’t care for doctoring, he went to Hollywood and made more computer-ish movies than doctor-ish ones. I only discovered “Runaway” earlier this year; I thought I was familiar with all of Crichton’s movies, but apparently not. I don’t remember ever seeing any mention of it anywhere.

In the movie, a household robot goes rogue and acquires a revolver — which makes a pump-action shotgun racking sound before each shot and leaves a ragged two-inch hole in the drywall. Sigh. So I’m not surprised he gets his warships mixed up.
