I hope it’s satire. If it is, it’s among the best examples I’ve seen in a while. Brilliant!

Right down to modish critical theory concerns and ways of expressing ideas like the phrase “attention to the body”. When I got to that line I realized this piece had crossed into greatness.

It would have ascended into legend if it had had a lengthy discussion of the callous slaughter of orcs, and had, without exception, referred to them as “orc bodies”.

I was just about to start railing against the “Hobbit Studies program at the University of Chicago”. The problem being that in this day and time this might very well not be a spoof. It’s hard to tell these days if some pozz is true or not there’s so much of it.

Poes law is kicking in here … I can’t tell if this is satire or genuine. Nowadays, I dare say that some idiot will actually take a course in Hobbit studies and spend three or four years of their ife plus conspicuous amounts of cash on the course.

So which is it? Satire or serious?
