A successful organization suppresses all that interferes with it, and nothing that helps it. But no organization is immune to challenge. It must compete with other organizing principles.

When a predator kills and eats its prey, the atoms of the prey’s body become those of the predator’s. But they have joined a new organization. To the prey, this is death. The atoms don’t care.

The only freedom that matters is the freedom to do what is in your interest. You are an organism, therefore you are an organization. Manage your atoms wisely. Suppress all that interferes with you, and suppress nothing that helps you. This is the core of all wisdom.

Self organization is when all components share a common organizing principle that just happens to lead to them becoming organized into a system. No common principle, no self organization. The shared DNA code is the higher self that organizes the individuals. It’s all about the software.

Top-down organization is dominance and submission between unlike individuals. It will serve the DNA of the most dominant foremost, and those of the least dominant no more than necessary. The board is not motivated either by employee’s well being or by increasing shareholder value. The board is out for the board.

So you look out for yourself. And if everyone involved is rationale, a truce can be arranged where everyone gets by. That is society. A stalemate and a truce between self-centered individuals. If it works, we call it “fairness.” This is what Bloom’s Lucifer Principle misses: the truce that tames the devil and makes a win-win possible.

It’s only a truce. But a good truce can hold a long time.
