Those issues are hiding in plain sight. If you are the parent of a teenage girl, for example, you hear and see ample evidence of the mean girl tendencies. Do not expect any revelations from our media or academics.

Some will say that mean-girlness is biology and therefore immutable. Others will say that the blank slate shows such behaviors to be subject to change. (Yes, there are many issues. A few selected to start the discussion.) One corollary is that females act like that due to pressures exerted by males, media, you name it.

Who are you going to believe, media or your lyin’ eyes?
