Was it a someone here who observed that the moral lesson of "The Lion King" is that hereditary, patriarchal monarchy is the form of government best suited to maintaining a diverse polity?

Someone put the idea in my head, at any rate. It strikes me as obvious, indeed inescapable, now that I have heard it. An odd lesson for modern animation.

Interesting, but here's the thing: the new animation movement towards individuals changing the world as a theme is fine until people get angry because they find they themselves cannot change the world.

All the sort of world-changing by the actions of one 'enlightened' person/creature is not available in the world of today, which is far too complex and has many layers of agendas. The upshot is people who 'believe' become frustrated their 'noble vision' is't shared by all, and that rejection or ignoring merely leads to anger and aggression.

In the 'old' themes the individual was self-responsible for their own path to happiness. Now, the individual is responsible -- we are led to believe -- for the happiness of everyone else.
