We are entering deeply unprosperous times.

I figured this would be seized upon by today’s cult of the immigrant to call for even more population transfer, so we can have even more money to buy even more stuff to cram into our ever-growing landfills.

That may ultimately be true for all times and places, but that’s one of the slickest, most backhanded ways of sneaking in praise of European colonialism I’ve ever seen.

So beautiful I’m even willing to forgive any potential failure to consider differences that might exist between new ‘state-forming’ migrations and contemporary ‘state pre-existing’ immigration.
