Officers have been to college, which given the debt and ROI seems like a low-IQ means test to me.

Increase in the number of non-White and female officers means a reduction in IQ. Any dumb-ass degree will do, and the guys getting a high-IQ degree have a lot of debt to pay off making the military a poor choice.

Officer promotion is based on political reliability, which is also selecting for low-IQ, low-information voters.

Combining a poor economy with a shrinking military allows recruiters to be highly selective. In 2011 I talked to an Air Force recruiter who told me that he’d met his fiscal year quota in April.

My impression is, though, that enlisted ASVAB scores are much higher than they were in, say, the early 1970s.
