Easy part: Only lunatics think that killing the president is a good idea or worth the cost. The physical infrastructure around the president precludes a competent assassin who isn’t suicidal from even trying.

Unimportant part: Obama as a martyr charges up the left. Hell, at this point the left would be thrilled if Obama was killed — no more awkward questions about him, instant beatification.
