There’s a lot of ‘closet’ “conservatives”. I myself despise the label and prefer sanguine empiricist in the sense of my structural beliefs and let the output fall where it may.

In public I just say Aristocratic Egalitarianism/Burkean.

I don’t admit that there’s any such thing as ‘conservatism’ simpliciter.

Seems a worthy position. Also seems that there are no conservative public intellectual, and almost certainly no conservative politicians.
