Women are assigned far less hazardous duty as pilots, both in combat and in training.

Drivers on civilian roads also self-select as to how many hours a week they drive, and in what road conditions. If things get tough, the woman driver had best cancel her drive, while the male driver may have no choice but to go out — eg power linemen, firefighters, police, etc. etc. etc.
