He's just walking thru the 5 Stages of Grief model over the death of Affirmative Action.

After pointing out that most Leftists are still at Denial or Anger, he notes that he's moved on to Bargaining:

"[I]f it were me, I’d be out horse trading ... let state and local governments opt out of affirmative action mandates, but only in exchange for opting in on universal pre-K and other things that working families actually need."

The civil rights movement did little to shape policy compared to the urban riots and the fear they engendered. The 1960s are spun as the civil rights decade, but they were really the riot decade. As Tanner Colby points out, it was fear that drove affirmative action, busing, and other racial overreach. Interestingly, although they were the about the second biggest domestic events of the 1960s (the assassinations were probably bigger) the riots are little recalled today, and certainly not mentioned in the history books.

The only people who ever thought that Nixon was a conservative were liberals. Detente, anyone? Selling out Taiwan? Creation of the EPA? Shoveling ever more money into dead-end social programs? Kennedy was actually more conservative than Nixon. That Nixon was the mastermind behind the whole AA mess is not surprising.

Affirmative Action puts the lie to any claim of equal rights or equality before the law. Affirmative Action has turned the entire government apparatus of the US into an institutional race bigot of extreme prejudice.

The blatant injustice of Affirmative Action stands naked to anyone with an objective mind. The longer that society avoids the truth that different breeding populations carry different strengths and weaknesses, the bloodier the end result of this endless outrage will be.

As it stands, facing the music of innate inequality would cost the US several cities and perhaps hundreds of thousands of lives. I don't want to contemplate how high the toll will ultimately become from continued denial.
