Long term, I don’t even want to live in a place where I have to think “they’re coming to kill and rob me” every night.

Short term, one might say the vigilance required to remember to shout out “Who is it?” each and every time before you open any outside door may just as well be applied to being armed. My 0.02.

Of course the “helmet” is going too far. It would muss up my tinfoil hat.

Owning a gun isn’t much help either though — unless you have it loaded within reach. Seconds count.

So, should you answer the door with a helmet and a loaded gun? Or should you not open the door for strangers?
