Psychology studies usually focus on trivial, non-conceptual, non-skill learning — such as memorizing and recognizing lists of nonsense syllables or individual words, comprehension of passages, etc.

But real learning — of stuff that makes a difference — i.e. learning new concepts and skills — is something that needs focus, repetition, chunks of dedicated time etc.

It is hard work!
