		<description><![CDATA[This is a total shot from the hip, but I wonder how much one might profitably draw a useful analogy between &lt;em&gt;Dubai, oil, and underclass&lt;/em&gt; and early post-revolutionary &lt;em&gt;America, land resources and African slaves&lt;/em&gt;? 

Of course, there are a &lt;em&gt;million&lt;/em&gt; ways this analogy breaks down (individual vs. tribal lifestyle; 18th versus 21st 
century culture and technology influence; democratic versus hierarchical governance, etc.) but that&#039;s not of immediate interest. 

What would a savvy, neutral historian (kind of like Jared Diamond... kind of...) say about any parallels between these two evolutionary states and their likely future paths?]]></description>
