Yes. Free men who can think for themselves prefer roundabouts at intersections rather than being slaves to an unthinking signal light.

The USA has more traffic lights than any other nation. Each one of them puts the lie to the claim that America is the land of the free.

Yes, I’m being serious. You could say “dead serious” because traffic light controlled intersections kill more people than roundabouts and traffic circles.

This reminds me of a similar principle about determining the effective IQ of a committee. To compute the effective IQ of a committee you take the IQ of the stupidest person on the committee and divide it by the number of people on the committee.

Proof that those dedicated to the organization will control it is found in Stalin’s modest request to become “secretary” of the CCCP in the mid 20’s. While all around him focused on the “grand” principles of Socialism/Communism, Stalin focused on creating and controlling a vast bureaucracy that eventually murdered all opponents, including those in the first group. QED.

Do some reading about “Complex Adaptive Systems” and “emergent behavior” to consider human activity that seems conspiratorial, but is not. Consider rush-hour traffic in a urban area as an example. Everyone is pursuing their own goals. most are adhering (somewhat) to schema (rules of the road) set out in their state’s drivers’ manual. From 3,000 feet, it looks like a conspiracy, when it is really emergent behavior arising from the actions of each driver. This is why morals are so important. They drive the myriad actions each day in the members of society from which the dominant overall behavior “emerges”.
